About this class

What Beginners Yoga is really about

Spending one hour on a yoga mat is one of the kindest things you can do for your body and your mind. At Aikia, our beginners classes are crafted for people who have never set foot on a mat — and for those returning after a long break. We move at your pace, demonstrate every posture, correct gently, and never push beyond what's right for you on the day.

Why join

The benefits you'll feel

Real, observable changes — most of them within the first month.

Builds strength

Without weights or strain. Every posture is a study in your own body's natural resistance.

Improves flexibility

Slowly, safely. Your hamstrings will thank you within weeks.

Better posture

Counteract hours at desks and screens. Stand taller, sit straighter.

Calms the mind

Synchronised breath and movement is a proven anxiety reliever.

Better sleep

Most beginners notice deeper sleep within the first month.

Boosts immunity

Regular practice strengthens your immune response and overall vitality.

Curriculum

What you'll learn

A structured curriculum, not a random sequence of postures. Every class builds on the last.

Who this is for:

Adults of any age (16+) who have never practised yoga, or who have practised casually and want to build a proper foundation. No flexibility, fitness level or body type required.

  • Foundational standing postures (Tadasana, Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana)
  • Sun salutations (Surya Namaskar) — the cornerstone sequence
  • Basic seated postures and forward folds
  • Diaphragmatic breathing and three-part breath
  • Proper alignment so you never injure yourself
  • Short relaxation (Shavasana) at the end of every class
  • How to build a 15-minute home practice
  • Yoga philosophy — the why behind the what

In their words

From students of this class

"I had never done yoga in my life and was convinced I was too stiff for it. Three months at Aikia and I can touch my toes for the first time since I was twelve. More importantly, my back doesn't hurt at the end of a workday anymore."
— Priya K., HSR Layout
"The teachers actually teach. They watch, correct, and explain why we do what we do. It doesn't feel like a workout class — it feels like real yoga."
— Arjun M., Bommanahalli
FAQ

Common questions

I'm not flexible at all. Can I still do yoga?
Absolutely — that's exactly why you should do yoga. Flexibility is a result of practice, not a prerequisite. We've taught complete beginners of every body type.
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable clothes you can stretch in. We provide mats. A small water bottle and a towel are all you need.
How often should I attend?
Three to five sessions a week gives the fastest results, but even two consistent sessions a week will transform how you feel within a month.
Is there a long-term commitment?
No. We offer monthly packages and you can stop any time. Your first trial class is completely free.
Will I be able to keep up with the others?
Our beginner batches are kept small and homogeneous in level. Nobody will be racing ahead of you.
